When I first started working, my boss showed me how effective writing a list can be – especially in the morning before starting work. Like a form of meditation, you take a moment to sit down and write out all of the tasks you want to complete during the day.
If you have the time and need extra structure, you can even note the timeframe for completing each task. While this process is incredibly simple and an obvious way to stay organised and motivated, it’s surprising how many people don’t do it – often out of habit, laziness, or lack of discipline.
Holding yourself accountable, even to just a few words on paper, requires discipline. But the rewards are massive.
I’ve been using this method for my entire career. It has kept me focused and has significantly increased my productivity. I always know exactly what I need to do, when to do it, and what my overarching aims are for each day.
As you build discipline and experience the benefits of this practice, you can expand your approach. You can start listing tasks for the week, month, or even years ahead to ensure the path you’re treading is well-defined.
If you’re looking for ways to improve your organisation and productivity, this simple habit can make a world of difference!
